On the second day of NAMM 2025, I took some time to explore one of the most important aspects of saxophone care—having a reliable case to protect your instrument.
Most saxophones come with a case that works fine for everyday use, but when it comes to travel—especially flying—not all cases are up to the task. While case designs have improved over the years, finding one that’s both protective and easy to transport can still be a challenge.
For a while, I’ve used the BAM Hightech case for my tenor saxophone. It’s a solid option, but it doesn’t quite accommodate my large-bell Trevor James sax.
At NAMM 2025, I came across Protec’s new compact bari sax case, and it immediately caught my attention as a well-designed, travel-friendly option.
