Jeremiah True is a highly versatile woodwind performer proficient across the full saxophone family, as well as clarinets, flutes, and bassoon. His career spans orchestral performance, jazz, theatre pits, and rock ’n roll, making him a respected voice among professional saxophonists and woodwind players.
He recently concluded a distinguished 21-year tenure in the United States Air Force Band Program, closing a celebrated chapter defined by service, musical excellence, and artistic leadership.
At the 2026 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, celebrating NAMM’s 125th anniversary, Donna interviewed Jeremiah True at the P. Mauriat booth to discuss new saxophone releases, performance concepts, and why certain design choices matter to working musicians. P. Mauriat instruments are known for their combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern precision. Each saxophone is completely handmade by senior technicians using high-grade materials, including French high-quality brass. Extensive hand-hammering and casting processes contribute to a resonant, flexible sound that has become a hallmark of the brand.
One of the major highlights from P. Mauriat at NAMM 2026 is the introduction of the Black Lacquer Alto and Tenor saxophones. These models are built on the Classic Rolled Tone Hole Chassis, featuring an enlarged Germanic bore, Germanic bow, and large bell design.
This chassis, also used in the 20th Anniversary models, is known for being a very free-blowing instrument with strong projection and tonal depth. The Black Lacquer versions share the exact same build specifications, without the 20th Anniversary engraving, offering players the same performance characteristics in a sleek dark lacquer finish.
P. Mauriat also announced an exciting new collaboration with the Boston Sax Shop at NAMM 2026. The new Black Lacquer saxophones now ship with a Boston Sax Shop Accessories Kit, giving players a complete setup right out of the case.
Each kit includes:
- Boston Sax Shop cork grease
- One box of 2.5 Black Box reeds
- A Boston Sax Shop neck strap
This collaboration brings together two trusted names in the saxophone community, focused on player-ready performance and professional reliability.
Jeremiah summed up the week with a lighthearted reminder familiar to every NAMM attendee: “NAMM does not mean ‘Not Available until Mid-May!’”
